Kristy was a great doula. She was patient and experienced and she took everything in stride. She was fully prepared for emergencies and contingencies but always optimistic. When I had false alarms, she dropped everything to be with me, and took me for walks until it was clear I wasn't in labor. When I really was in labor, she massaged my back, kept my spirits up, and advocated for me when I needed it. She showed such warmth and love for me, my daughter, and my family; her total confidence in us during difficult moments was heartening when we needed it most. The birth itself was a wonderful experience, in large part because I knew I had Kristy on my side.

The greatest thing about having Kristy with me for the birth and postpartum was Kristy’s amazing aura of warmth and calmness. As an older mom giving birth for the first time (and dealing with the extra issue of pregnancy induced hypertension) it meant the world to me and to Jamie to have someone so experienced, positive and calm with us for the labor and delivery. The two weeks of postpartum time we had with you Kristy was priceless! She taught us the skills we needed to take care of Sonja and allowed me the downtime to recover from the birth and catch up on sleep.

I didn't even know what a doula was until I was 8 months pregnant with my third child. I read about it somewhere online and thought I'd look into it, so I asked Dr. Barney how he felt about having a doula there for this birth. His response was, “Great! Have you met Kristy Huber?" I told him that I had only interviewed one doula. He said, “That's great. But don't decide till you've met Kristy." Kristy set me at ease SO well. I knew immediately that we'd get along great. I went ahead and interviewed one other doula, but out of the three, Kristy was the only one I felt comfortable with. My husband was on board right away, but my mom was a little bit leery- until she met Kristy. All of her stresses were put at ease as well! When the birth day came and we had a few minor issues Kristy was able to explain to me plain and simple what was going on and what my options were. She also knew enough from her own personal experience to help me. Not only that, but she seemed to sense what it was I needed at that very moment. It was the first time I'd had an all natural birth and it was also the easiest. Kristy helped calm my nerves when I was getting to that overwhelmed point. She was also very helpful in being my advocate with the medical staff so that I could focus only on the labor.
Two and a half years later, when I found out I was pregnant again, Kristy was the FIRST person I called. When I went in for my 8 week visit, Dr. Barney's first question was, “Is Kristy going to be there again?" I said, “Of course!" and he responded, “Good!" Two hours later when we found out I had lost the baby, Kristy was the first person I contacted. Even through the tough times, Kristy has always been there for me. Once you meet Kristy, you have a friend for life. She's amazing and I won't have another baby without her!!

Not only did she render useful help with things like dishes and laundry, but she also offered priceless expertise, moral support, and encouragement as my new baby and I got to know each other and adjust to the new rhythm of our lives.
